FAQ

Q: What satellite constellations does the GL-DY006-1 support?

A: It supports GPS L1 (1575.42MHz) and GLONASS G1 (1601–1610MHz). It is not designed for BeiDou or Galileo, but works alongside them as a secondary receiver.


Q: What is the difference between IP65 and IP67?

A: IP65 protects against low‑pressure water jets; IP67 protects against immersion up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The GL-DY006-1 meets IP65–IP67 (excluding cable outlet). For full submersion, seal the cable exit point.


Q: Can I extend the 3m cable?

A: Yes, but use low‑loss extension coax (e.g., RG174 or LMR100) with MCX connectors. Longer cables may reduce signal due to attenuation – keep total under 5m for best performance.


Q: Does the antenna require external power?

A: Yes, it is an active antenna. The 3–5V DC power is supplied through the same coaxial cable (bias‑tee). Most GPS receivers provide this voltage on the antenna port.


Q: How do I mount the antenna?

A: Two options: (1) Magnetic base – simply place on any ferrous metal surface (holds firmly). (2) Adhesive backing – stick to non‑metal surfaces like plastic or fiberglass. Both methods require no drilling.


Q: What is the current consumption?

A: Only 5–15mA at 3–5V DC. This is very low compared to typical GPS antennas (>20mA), making it ideal for battery‑powered applications.
